The Shotton Walkers

Ordinary blokes. Extraordinary distances.

We’re a group of friends from Shotton in North Wales who walk stupid distances to raise money for charity – and have a laugh doing it. Since 2020 we’ve clocked up hundreds of miles and raised over £23,000. Every penny goes to the causes we walk for.

One idea in a pub. Hundreds of miles later.

It started in December 2019 with Crawford Hall, a dry January and a daft suggestion. Four mates said yes, and 81 miles from Holyhead to Prestatyn later, the Shotton Walkers were born — along with the largest single donation The Not Forgotten Association had received in its hundred-year history.

In 2021 we went bigger: 160 miles from Shotton Colliery in County Durham to our own Shotton in North Wales, seven days, a marathon a day, £15,000 raised for CALM and The Not Forgotten.

We’re all volunteers. There’s no overheads, no salaries, no cut taken. One hundred percent of what you give goes straight to the charities we walk for: mental health, veterans’ welfare, and the causes close to home.

All we do is put one foot in front of the other. You do the rest.
